First awarded in 1963, the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) certification is one of the fastest growing professional credentials in the world and is recognized globally as a standard for measuring the competence and integrity of investment professionals. Around the world, employers and investors recognize CFA certification as the definitive standard for evaluating aptitude in the fields of portfolio management and investment analysis. Global acceptance of the CFA charter has led to tremendous growth in the program over the past decade. More than 200,000 investment professionals from more than 150 nations registered for the 2010 examinations.
The CFA examination is offered at locations throughout the world. Candidates must complete three levels of examinations sequentially. Candidates who fail an examination are encouraged to repeat the level. The Level I examination is composed of multiple-choice questions and is offered in June and, in selected locations, December. Levels II and III are offered only in June. Candidates may enroll for only one examination at a time. Candidates must wait to receive their examination results before enrolling for the next examination, since the results will determine whether a candidate must repeat the current level or advance to the next level.
The CFA Program is composed of three levels, each culminating in an exam. Each level tests skills in: • Accounting • Finance • Economics • Portfolio Management • Quantitative Methods • Ethical and Professional Standards
You must pass each level sequentially as well as fulfill other requirements of the program before earning the right to use the CFA certification. The CFA Program’s curriculum is designed to reflect a Body of Knowledge™ that keeps pace with the ever-changing dynamics of the global investment community. This Body of Knowledge was developed through an extensive survey of practicing CFA charter holders. It consists of 10 areas of financial knowledge, providing a framework for making investment decisions.
