In spite of the introduction of the computer-based testing, the paper-based TOEFL is still administered in many locations. The paper-based TOEFL is given on specific dates several times a year. In this way, it is less flexible that the CBT TOEFL. Furthermore, the paper-based TOEFL determines your score solely on the number of correct and incorrect answers and disregards the difficulty level of each individual question. On the other hand, you can preview answers choices in the listening section, skip answers, and move back and forth in the structure and reading sections. Apparently, paper-based TOEFL requires a different test taking strategy than the CBT.
Section 1. Listening Comprehension Time: 30-40 minutes Format: 50 questions Topics tested: Spoken English Problem types: audio dialogues, short conversations, mini-lectures followed by questions

Section 3. Reading Comprehension Time: 55 minutes Format: 50 questions Topics tested: reading comprehension and vocabulary Problem types: Reading passages followed by a series of questions
